Karl's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of Karl "Lovebug, SD, Opa-Bohpa" Wacker, a beloved man and genuine friend to all who knew him. Karl passed away on May 3, 2025, after a short 5 day battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
He was born on July 1, 1954, and in his 70 years, he lived a life filled with laughter, devotion to hard work, and an overflowing love and generosity to those that were lucky to know him. He valued simplicity and was always positive, trying to see the best in every situation. Karl was known for his quick witted humor and not taking himself too seriously.
Karl spent much of his time behind the wheel, he worked hard as a truck driver nearly all his adult life and enjoyed the camaraderie of his coworkers at the yard. He was always incredibly handy and loved sharing his skills and knowledge with anyone he could help. Whether it was performing oil changes on his family's cars, building an entire pool and surrounding deck from scratch in his backyard, hanging artwork for his kids, building a handmade crib, or teaching his grandkids how to use power tools, Karl's skills and can-do-it attitude will never be forgotten. Karl shared his life with numerous pets over his years, he leaves behind his precious dogs: Alba, Willow, and Autumn. Karl loved playing golf, fishing, antiquing, searching for "purple wood" and other treasures at Home Depot, pillow fights with his grandchildren, and anything to do with the Philadelphia Eagles.
His loving spouse, Monica Wacker, shared many cherished years with him, their bond was one of true appreciation and admiration of each other, he put Monica on a pedestal and did anything he could to make her happy and feel taken care of, often leaving her a handwritten note or drawing every morning before work. They were best friends, enjoying morning coffee on the back porch, evening swims after work, long games of Seekers or rummy, listening to tunes from the hot tub, Saturday night dinners out, and endless inside jokes. His stepchildren Ashley Shields, Meredith Brinster, and Travis Brinster, their spouses and their children, will carry the legacy of SD-Opa-Bohpa forever and will miss him dearly.
Karl’s memory lives on in the hearts of the many lives he touched. We take comfort in knowing that his spirit of kindness, generosity and genuine love for life will continue to inspire all of us. Rest in eternal peace, Karl "Lovebug-SD-Opa-Bohpa" Wacker.
