Karen's obituary

Karen Lee Schmiedeke, age 77, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026.

She was born on February 1, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, and spent much of her life in DuPage County, Illinois, and Kennesaw, Georgia.

Karen was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was thoughtful, kind, and deeply loving, always putting others before herself. She treasured her family above all else and was the heart and matriarch of her family, nurturing strong bonds and lasting traditions. A woman of deep faith and quiet strength, she faced life’s challenges with resilience and grace. Her warmth, joy, and caring spirit touched everyone who knew her. She was a longtime member of Living Hope Church ( https://livinghopega.com/) where faith and community were an important part of her life.

She is survived by her children, Tony Imbordino, Christina Conde, and Victoria Cook; her grandchildren, Tyler Scesny, Kirsten Scesny, Anthony Imbordino, Christian Lepillan, Luke Imbordino, Jacob Cook, and Ethan Cook; and her siblings, Jackie Tiani Bauer, Deborah Schroeder, Cheryl Pierce, and Raymond Keinath.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Schmiedeke; her father, Robert W. Keinath; her mother, Jacquelyn Redd; and her brother, Robert C. Keinath.

Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the grace she gave to others, the lessons she taught, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
