Karen's obituary
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; Shigeto and Hideko Iwata, sisters, Michi Egusa and Satsuki Fujitani. She is survived by sisters, Tayeko Takeda and Masae Matsumoto. Karen leaves behind husband George, son Jeff and his wife Leslie and children Ryan, Megan and Carly and son Tom, his wife Beverly and children Alex, Justin and Emily plus many nieces and nephews.
Karen attended Edison High School in Stockton, CA and went on to study at Armstrong Business School in Berkley, CA. While vacationing at her friend's house she was introduced to George, and they fell in love and were married for 58 years and raised their family in California and Washington.
Karen enjoyed her work and was an administrator at Temple B'nai Torah in Bellevue, WA for 28 years and had many co-workers she considered good friends.
Karen played golf and had many hobbies, and like her sisters she was an excellent cook. She would be on the phone at all hours talking about upcoming events and she loved her annual vacation to Hawaii. She attracted many people that became her good friends.
Karen will forever be in our hearts and will be missed dearly. There will be a private ceremony due to the COVID pandemic. We ask that any donations be sent in her name to the Humane Society in your location or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
