Karen Summers (Riley), age 64, passed away on May 25, 2025, in Burlington, North Carolina. Born on March 1, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida; raised in Bluefield, VA Karen lived a life marked by strength, devotion, and unwavering love for her family.
Karen was the beloved wife of James Summers for 24 years. She was a devoted mother to Sara Riley, William Joseph (Joey) Davis (Jamie Brown), Kayla Davis, and Dakota (Cody) Riley (Michelle Asberry). Known affectionately as "Nana," Karen held a special place in the hearts of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the cherished sister of Ginger Lawson; Randall Riley; and Reba (Wallace) Blanton. Her extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who were all touched by her warmth and generosity. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Sara Louis Riley and Willis Ray Riley; as well as her siblings Donnie Riley, Cathy Kitts, and Tina Pridemore.
Karen was a full-spirited woman whose beliefs ran deep. She was the anchor of her family—steadfast in her support, fierce in her love, and always present when needed most. Her home was a sanctuary where laughter echoed through the halls and every visitor felt welcome.
The family is currently receiving visitors at her residence at 602 Pine Street, Burlington, NC 27215. Funeral details will be announced at a later date.
