Karen's obituary

Karen Huston passed away quietly on the evening of April 17, 2025. Born on May 22, 1941, she was preceded in death by her parents, Merle Huston and LoRayne Disney. She is survived by her brother, Ed Huston, and her greatest legacy — three children, six grandchildren, and more than a few great-grandchildren. Karen adored her grandchildren and often said that if she could’ve skipped straight to them, she would have.

Karen was a complex and fiercely independent woman who lived life unapologetically by her own rules. She had a deep love for animals and was rarely seen without a few dogs and cats by her side. She’ll be remembered for her mastery in the kitchen — capable of whipping up both hearty meals and irresistible treats — and for her talent in silversmithing. Taught by a friend, the craft came naturally to her, and she created striking jewelry from stone and silver that she proudly sold throughout the Southwest.

Karen had an adventurous spirit, with a love for travel that took her from the wilds of Alaska to the quiet beauty of the desert. She found true peace in her mountain home, but her most cherished journey was celebrating the new millennium in Ireland — a trip she often reminisced about with joy.

She will be remembered for all of who she was — the good, the difficult, and everything in between. Karen left her mark on everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed.
