I met Karen at church and we struck up a nice friendship. Karen was sweet and kind as I was recovering from my grief and she was very supportive.
My best memory is when we attended a concert given by Emmylou Harris in probably late 2018. I remember how much Karen enjoyed the music and the evening.
I will miss her sense of humor, her smile and kindness.
I do know that Karen was a woman of great faith who cared deeply for her children. They were very special to her.

Sweet and precious Karen. So kind and loving. We will miss her beautiful smile and countenance. She is totally healed and walking hand in hand with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was such a loving person, she always treated me like one of the family members, and for that I will always be thankful.
Karen and I became friends while working at Des Moines University, and learned of each other’s cancer diagnosis on the very same day. When I went to email her — there was an email FROM her. We last had lunch the end of July, and decided to try and meet monthly, as we were good support for each other. Sadly, that never happened, and I’m so sorry to learn of her passing. Much sympathy to all her family. She was such a caring, honest, and warm person.
I wish to offer my sympathy to Karen's family. I have such wonderful memories of meeting up with Karen in Iowa when I was visiting from the UK. She very kindly invited me to stay with her, inviting friends to meet me and taking me to her favourite places. Special memories of sitting up late at night chatting about everything. A truly special, warm, friendly, funny and lovely lady, forever remembered.
To Karen’s family! I am so heartbroken to learn of Karen’s passing. I recently saw Karen on Zoom as we were doing Bridge to Unity in combination as Hope-Elim. Karen and I were Standardized Patients together at DMU. She was always pleasant and a joy to work with and I was looking forward to seeing her more as our churches come together.

My Sincere condolences to the family. Karen will be sorely missed. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.

I'm so sorry to learn of Karen's passing. She was our childbirth educator when we had our first child and we reconnected years later in our professional roles. Such a kind, positive and supportive person. My condolences to the family and friends she has left to cherish her memory.
There have been only a very, very small handful of people in my life who had that gift - to be so interested in everything you were as a person - the mundane, the simple, your happiness & your struggles. It is so hard to say goodbye to Karen’s beautiful, caring eyes that reflected such a happy, fun and beautiful soul. But dear God, her memory is such a blessing to hold.

My sympathy to all of Karen's family. I met Karen through a Hope small group, and we enjoyed many conversations and studies. She had a wonderful smile and it's easy to see why she made so many friends so easily.
Karen was an awesome person. Her smile could light up a room. I met Karen in 7th grade and we graduated together. A group from junior high would occasionally meet for lunch which was fun for all of us. Heaven gained an angel and she will spend eternity in peace. Bless you Karen for sharing your life.
Karen was truly a treasured friend! Always had a positive attitude and was always willing to listen to you! Always could make you feel better about a situation! My hear felt sympathies to her children, grandchildren, sister Susan and her many other family members!❤️
My heart will always be full of out many memories together! Love you Karen!!
I’m so sorry for the loss of Karen and send love especially to her family.
I feel honoured to have been able to be Karen’s friend. We shared many a story, talked of all things both serious and fun, ate together and laughed together. Her smile was the sunniest and best.
I shall miss her.
Katie, I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. She raised such a kind beautiful daughter who I always look up to. I am praying for you during this time.
