Karen's obituary

Karen R. Dalton, age 77, of Hamilton, OH (residing in Lakeland, FL) died Saturday, July 25th at 11:04 am at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center in Lakeland, FL. Karen was born on May 10th, 1943 in Hamilton, OH to Vernon and Dorothy (Reed) Getz. She married Dennis Dalton on June 9th, 1973 in St. John Church (First St. John U.C.C) and was married for 47 years up to her passing. She was a lifelong member of First St. John United Church of Christ and enjoyed singing with the Church Choir, playing handbells and being part of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of Washington Chapter #195, O.E.S. Karen loved being a mother at home, raising her 2 children and volunteering at their schools. She played piano and sang, enjoyed being in her flower garden, doing crafts with her sisters and was a long-time blood donor. Karen had a beautiful voice and a loving heart.

Karen is survived by her husband, Dennis Dalton, originally of Hamilton, OH, currently residing in Lakeland, FL, and her two children, Kelly Smith and husband Matthew and Daniel Dalton and wife Krista. She is survived by 2 sisters, Linda Foxbower and husband John, of Franklin, OH and Melanie Selkirk and husband Joseph of Harrison, OH, and one sister-in-law, Diane Getz of West Chester, OH. Karen is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Colton Dalton, Kylee Smith, Caleb Williams and Kaylee Williams, and nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Kenneth Getz and a brother-in-law, Gordon Thomas “Tom” Dalton.

A memorial and celebration of Karen’s life will be planned for a later date. Memorials may be made to the ALS Association, Florida or Ohio chapter, in memory of Karen R. Dalton.
