KAREN's obituary
KAREN COLONE, 57, of Canton, MI and Cape Coral FL, passed away on September 21, 2022 after a long battle with Cancer .
Karen was born in January 1965 to David and Christina Marvel in Detroit, MI. After graduating from Churchill High School in 1983, she went on to study Business at Eastern Michigan University. After graduation, she worked her way up the ladder at Hudson's, and later Target Corporation, where she worked for 12 years.
In 1984, she met John Colone, and after a long courtship, they wed in 1990. They have one daughter Lauren. Karen continued to work for two years after Lauren was born. John & Karen got tremendous help from her mom and Nana (Jessie Hardie), taking care of Lauren when they were at work.
Lauren was the center of everything for Karen. Whether it was making costumes for Lauren's Dance Recitals, or leading the Girl Scout Troop each year, she was always focused on Lauren. Karen was always learning and asking questions about different things. She would help and give advice to friends and family, whether it was something as simple as gardening or more complex such as fixing a dryer. She would take a laser focus on whatever problem she was trying to solve. Karen also loved and prioritized vacations. She made sure the family experienced nice vacations and traveled to many different destinations. She had a strong love of all animals and had been known to name the reoccurring visiting raccoons who would come on the deck.
We will miss her greatly.
Karen was predeceased by her mom, Christina Marvel, her dad David Marvel and grandmother, Jessie Hardie. She is survived by her husband John Colone, and daughter, Lauren Colone and three year old Shepard Bo. The family requests that in Lieu of Flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society. There will be a Memorial Service, October 21, at 10:00am, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Canton, Michigan. Shortly after, there will be a luncheon at 11:15am at the American Legion Hall in Livonia.
