Background
Karen Brice was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother (“Glam-Ma”), and friend. Her positivity and selflessness were evident by anyone who would spend more than 10 minutes with her. When originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, she did not labor over why this was happening to her, but instead focused on how she could leverage her journey to encourage others, and that is exactly what she did.
She was active in her church and community, specifically the breast cancer community, creating and fundraising for “Team Brice” in the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life. More recently, she served as President of the Austin Chapter of Sisters Network® Inc. from 2017 to 2020. She never shied away from an opportunity to use her story to motivate others, whether during a personal conversation with survivors, or at speaking engagements, such as the annual Sisters Network Candace Scott Tea.
This fund was created in honor of Karen on behalf of the Austin Chapter of Sisters Network® Inc., focused on providing a scholarship to a high school senior or college student who has been personally affected by the loss of a loved one due to breast cancer. It will serve as a continued reminder of her selfless nature and desire to give back. All proceeds will go directly to the Karen Brice Breast Cancer Scholarship Fund, which will be administered by the Austin Chapter of Sisters Network and Karen’s family.
Through this fund, we look forward to seeing the lasting and positive impact that Karen will continue to have on the lives of others. Contribute
