JUSTINA LOKELAU MAGSAYO

“NINA”

1970-2024

We sadly announce the passing of our loved one, Justina Lokelau Magsayo “Nina,” 53, at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona on April 16, 2024. Nina entered into rest peacefully and being surrounded by her daughters and loved ones.

Born in Kealakekua Bay, Kona, Hawaii to the late Emanuel and Helen (Ballenti) Magsayo on July 8, 1970, her presence was a testament to the unwavering spirit and verdant beauty of her Hawaiian heritage. Her family later moved to Alaska where she graduated from Soldotna High class of 1988. Later in life she had two daughters and three grandsons who were her entire world and loved with all her heart.

Having a zealous for life, volleyball, and spending time with her family and friends making everlasting memories. Nina was a paragon of joy and an emblem of a free-spirited existence, her life characterized by an ever-present smile that bestowed warmth and comfort to those around her. Nina’s demeanor was marked by gentle grace and a nurturing soul, bestowed upon her family and friends an enduring sense of serenity and happiness.

Her legacy is reflected in the lives of her daughters Tiara and Shaina, as well as her grandsons, Jesse, James, and Kai, who will carry forth her infectious zest for life. She will be deeply missed by her siblings Charles Ballenti, Dale, Kevin, and James Magsayo, Stephanie Scheck, Tricia Chapa, Sonya Genova, and Gale Magsayo-Bushman. Nina rejoins her loving parents and brother Albert Magsayo in eternal rest whose passing mark a legacy of familial unity that remains unbroken even in death.

Nina’s abiding memory shall endure as a guide to the graciousness and tenderness that marked her time among us. There will be a ceremony that will be held in Hawaii at a later date for the scattering of her ashes where we invite all who knew her to join us and in remembering a remarkable woman.
