Jurgen's obituary
Jurgen Bohm, a vibrant and beloved family man, passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure.
Born on June 23, 1941, in Hamburg, Germany, Jurgen spent the first years of his life with his mom Hilda and sister Marlis. After completing his school years and an apprenticeship in carpentry, he worked in Hamburg’s shipyards and at the age of 18, immigrated to Canada in 1959 and soon settled in California, where he made his home for the next 7 decades. With his wife Charlene by his side, he built a life filled with joy, hard work, adventure and devotion to his family. He had a fulfilling career in carpentry, and helped build Orange and Los Angeles counties into what they are today.
Jurgen's greatest pride was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with his daughters Nicole, Monique, and Natalie; son-in-laws Charlie, Kyle, and Dominic; grandchildren Brittany, Samuel, James, Lee, and Noemie; and great-grandchild Jace. He was the ultimate "Papa" – always ready with a joke, a compliment, and a twinkle in his eye.
An avid sports enthusiast, Jurgen loved nothing more than cheering on his favorite teams. He often spoke of memories cheering on his girls in sports or coaching their childhood teams. His quick wit and ability to connect and laugh with anyone was truly a gift. He loved to laugh and make others laugh.
Jurgen's passions extended beyond sports to good food and German beer to driving his speed boat on the Colorado River. He lived life to the fullest, always ready to party and make memories with those he loved.
Jurgen now rests in heaven where he joins his mom Hilda, daughter Tassatrelle, mother-in-law Odile, and countless others who have loved him over his many bright and vibrant years.
His family will deeply miss his infectious laughter, generous spirit, and unwavering optimism. Jurgen truly loved life, so, we will remember him to honor his remarkable journey, surrounded by the love, laughter, and adventure that defined his extraordinary life.
He will be missed everyday but his family will never forget the countless memories he created, the unconditional love he shared, and the lessons he taught them. Jurgen knew that life is a celebration, and every day is a gift.
So let us honor his legacy by embracing life's joys, going on adventures, smiling during the ups and downs, laughing often, and always finding the good – just like Jurgen would.
So to a man who carried many names, husband, grandpa, papa, great grandpa, brother, son, uncle, friend, and what I believe was his favorite, Dad. Your love, laughter, and light will never fade.
