Juno's obituary
Juno Young 11/30/2008 - 12/20/2023
Juno Young, also known as Little J, Boo & June bug, the driving force behind Juno’s Place, passed away December 20th surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with chronic intervertebral disc disease, renal disease, then progressive myelopathy, making it difficult to stand.
Juno lived by the motto “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” Weighing in at a mere five pounds, Juno ran the household with an iron paw. Any dog from Pitbull to Malinois knew they met their match.
Juno was a social media sensation with over 250,000 fans following her escapades daily on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
Along with her pack, Juno advocated for stiffer animal cruelty laws before and after The Puppy Doe case, the case that shocked the nation. She educated about spay and neuter and the importance of adoption. She was involved in backpack programs with local schools, providing food and school supplies to children in need. Juno was a Therapy Dog and Paws to Read dog with Paws for Friendship. She went into senior centers and hospitals visiting with patients and to local libraries to let children read to her to build their self confidence.
Juno lived a rockstar life having the pleasure of mingling with such celebrities as Linda Blair, Tony Todd, Dee Wallace Stone, Brad Dourif, Alex Vincent, John Dugan, Tobin Bell and many more.
Organizations she supported and advocated for include Kane's Krusade, Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog, Pet Rock Festival, For The Love of Jack, Hudson The Railroad Puppy, The Little Oliver foundation, Red Hot Rescue, Burt’s Brigade, Gizmo’s Frens and Jameson’s Journey to name a few. Juno’s Place always supported rescue and rescues like Perfect Imperfections, however the shelter she held dearest to her heart is Sweetpea Friends of Rutland Animals in Paxton Mass, still in the process of rebuilding after a devastating fire that destroyed the shelter.
Juno worked with her human at Standard Auto Wrecking Co, Inc for fourteen years and nine months with perfect attendance and great benefits of snacks like chicken & steak from her coworkers, Jim, Jerry, Paul, Joey and Deirdre.
Juno leaves her human parent Deborah A. Young of Sturbridge, bodyguards and best friends Sarena Kenadek of Warren & Robert Proulx of Holyoke. She also leaves her personal veterinarian, best friend and ice cream sharer Deb Lindsey of Sturbridge, her fur family sisters Paris, Scout, FB, Pixie, Sandcat, Sydney and brothers Nanook, Malakai, Cujo, Jake (from Statefarm) Valcor and Legalas , Diablo, Pepsi, Maxx, and Diesel. She leaves her personal photographer Jennifer Rivera of Rutland, several aunts Charlene, Gail, Bonnie, Sherri, Patty, Sammi, Bonnie, Ellen, Michaela, Theodora, Christina, Joan, Melanie, Shannon, Deanna and uncles Mikey, Mason, Dan, and Richard and also grandparents Mary & Richard Clark. She is predeceased by her human grandparents Nancy Young, Kenneth Young and step grandmother Marie Madden Young. Juno is also predeceased by her sisters, Neko, Dutchess, Simba, Nikki, Artemis, Dea, Gerty and her brothers Wolfie, Zeus, Axel, Gabriel, Lucifer, Rizzo, Cousin Tanq, Rizzo, Buddha, Cotter and Loki.
Juno will best be remembered for…
Knowing the pizza guy on a first name basis.
Attending Quaboug High School with Sarena for the day, just because.
Crying and whining at every holiday dinner causing Sammi anxiety until she stopped eating to make Juno a full dinner plate, including dessert.
Stealing cheese pizza off unattended plates at events.
Being held and loved up by Melanie until Sarena showed up and then Melanie didn’t exist.
Judging costume contests at Bow Wow in the park every year.
Accepting other animals for their abilities, not disabilities, like her Cerebellar Hypoplasia brother Nanook.
Setting her sister Dutchess up for things like letting the screen door close and lock when she came back inside from potty break, locking Dutchess out then watching from the window as Dutchess cried outside.
Having a bigger wardrobe than most celebrities.
Being horrified if someone sat in front seat of car and she had to sit in back.
Climbing onto a strangers lap at an event because they were petting their dog and Juno felt it was time she get some attention.
3am ice cream.
Learning to slam doors at an early age and would do so whenever she didn’t get what she wanted.
Firing her personal manager for lack of manager skills, only to rehire when ice cream was offered.
Her love of bread and butter.
Juno’s Place will continue without its tiny but mighty leader. Juno was an amazing ambassador for animals. She has trained her pack well and trusts that she left her organization in good paws. In Juno’s honor and memory we ask that you cherish every moment with your fur family members, that you remember you are their whole world, and that you make their lives whole.
