June's obituary

June Marie Carlsen, aged 64, passed away after a brief illness on January 24, 2024, in Knoxville, Tennessee, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 5, 1959, in Milton, MA, June's warm smile and compassionate spirit were her trademark. She was a beacon of kindness and generosity throughout her life, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.

June grew up in Massachusetts and spent the majority of her life in Plymouth, Carver and Foxboro. She obtained both her Bachelor of Science in Business and her MBA from Northeastern University in Boston. Her dedication to her studies laid a strong foundation for her successful career.

Professionally, June was the epitome of integrity and leadership. Most recently, June was Controller for HireAthena, Inc., where her expertise and guidance were invaluable. Her colleagues revered her not just for her professional acumen but also for her ability to connect with people on a personal level. June's warmth and wisdom made her a mentor and friend to many within her professional community.

Away from work, June's heart belonged to her family. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Alicia (Allie) Carlsen, who was the light of her life. June's role as a mother was her most treasured, and she poured love and guidance into her daughter's life. She was the ultimate Cheer mom for Allie for many years traveling across the country to many cheer competitions. Her sister, Laurie Mills, brother-in-law, Robert Mills, and her niece and nephew, Caroline and Jack Mills, will also hold dear the memories of her loving presence.

June loved family vacations over the years where three generations of family would gather at the seaside or lakeside and enjoy family time. She loved playing board games and card games with the kids and spent hours talking and finding joy in long conversations on a variety of topics, reflecting her easygoing and approachable nature. Her love for animals was profound, and she was a guardian to many rescued pets throughout her life. These animals brought great joy and companionship to June, and her care for them was a testament to her boundless heart.

To say that June was loving, kind, and generous of heart is to touch on the surface of the deep well of compassion she possessed. Her ability to give of herself, to listen with an open heart, and to extend a helping hand was felt by everyone she encountered. She was a friend to all and will be remembered for the love she so freely shared.

In the quiet moments, we will hear her laughter, see her smile, and feel her warm love. June's spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of the lives she touched. Though she has left this earthly realm, the essence of June will forever be a guiding light for us all.

At June's request, her ashes will be spread at Lake Mattawa in Massachusetts where she spent her childhood summers. A celebration of life will held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, a Go Fund Me page has been set up for Allie’s college expenses so that she can graduate from University of Tennessee in December as planned (https://gofund.me/0f1caf5a)
