Julie's obituary
Julie Ann Volle, age 62, passed away on November 27, 2022 at Laurelwood Assisted Living in Dayton, Ohio. Born to Joyce (Guffey) Volle in Portland Oregon on February 11, 1960, Julie resided most of her life in Hamilton, Ohio.
She attended Garfield High School, graduating in 1978. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1982 and then a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Cincinnati. She worked as a hospice social worker before health issues made this unfeasible. She then channeled her energies into charity work including volunteering as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children through the Parachute Program in Butler County (was recognized as volunteer of the year), joining the Red Cross Disaster Team as a coordinator, supporting efforts at the Boys and Girls Club in Hamilton, Ohio, sitting on the client rights board for Camelot Community Living in Fairfield, Ohio and volunteered for SELF (Supports to Encourage Low Income Families) based in Hamilton. She was passionate about giving to her community.
Julie was a an avid traveler, visiting Egypt, Hong Kong, China, Mexico and many locations stateside. She loved Washington State where she had many maternal family members. She attended college there and took many trips to the Seattle/Tacoma and Tri Cities areas throughout her life. Julie took many special trips to Colorado and Maine to be with her close friends as well.
Julie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Evelyn and Harry Guffey and her Uncle John Guffey. Julie always had "Fur Babies" whom she love and cared for dearly. She is preceded in death by Pepper, Fifi, Tawney, Lacy, Phoenix and Shadow.
Julie is survived by her mother Joyce Volle, brother Kevin Volle, sister Joy Witwer (Jeff), her niece Ayanna Witwer (with whom she shared a love of all rainbows and unicorns) and her Aunt Sandy (Bob). She also leaves behind dear friends Ed Barach, Karen Miller and her adult children, Julie's nephew Kristopher Miller and niece Kayla Miller.
A small memorial service celebrating Julie's life will be held at Laurelwood Assisted Living (3797 Summit Glen Drive, Dayton, OH 45449) on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 10:30am.
