Julie Marie Purkiewicz, 49, of Houston, TX died on Sunday, November 15th, 2020 from unknown causes. Her loss was unexpected, and her family is shocked and deeply saddened.
Julie was born on March 26, 1971 in Inglewood, California and lived in Southern California through her late teens. She moved to the Houston area in the early 90’s, where she remained until her death.
Julie worked as a dog groomer for most of her adult life. She was a true master of her trade, and loved working with and caring for all animals, large and small. She had an immense passion for her work, and it was a source of great pride.
When the opportunity to help others was presented to Julie she would readily volunteer. She was featured on the front page of USA today during the Haiti disaster, and the subject of a TV news story on the use and dangers of prescription pharmaceuticals.
In the last couple of years Julie had taken up painting. She was still a novice, but she had a great eye for color and abstract design.
Anyone who knew Julie, knew that she had a wicked sense of humor, marched to the beat of her own drum, was kind-hearted and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Life was not always easy for Julie and she often chose the longest and most difficult path, but always managed to reach her destination. It was during one of these journeys that she came to know and love Jesus Christ. She looked to Him for guidance and leaned on Him in times of need.
Julie is survived by her parents Rob and Susan Purkiewicz, her siblings Cyndy Cervantes and Robert Purkiewicz, her beloved standard poodle, Halo and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Julie’s family and friends will miss her more than words can say. Rest in eternal peace, dear Julie.
