I first met Julie being an Educator. I honestly don't remember our first encounter, but we became friends. She became especially special to me when I was on bedrest with my son, Philip, I began bleeding and was at risk for preterm birth. She jumped in to support me and encouraged me along the way. She would visit me at lunch cause I was at the hospital we worked at. She would share stories of her triumphs with her babies and own experiences with her preemies Kate and Megan. She shared strength with me and encouraged me. She was my life line when I was fighting for me and my baby. I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for her. I am so thankful God sent me Julie for that time, and I believe she's watching over my babies in Heaven. We LOVE you Julie!!!
In response to "How did you first meet Julie?"
Julie was a sweetheart. I had the pleasure of working with her when she taught for Oakland Schools at the vocational education center in Clarkston, Michigan. I worked for the Independence Fire Department, and because I was a CPR instructor, she would have me come to her medical assisting classes and teach her students CPR. We had a great time and it was fun working with her and her students, and the rest of her co-workers. I will miss her and her great attitude about her students and teaching. She genuinely respected and enjoyed her students and what she did.
I met Julie shortly after arriving in El Paso in 2018. She was so bright and passionate. It was evident that she had a vision of how to launch new graduates on their career at UMC. UMC was so very lucky to have had her. She taught the new graduates how to anchor their practice in evidence, to value professional certification and ongoing education. When UMC achieves Magnet status Julie will have made a tremendous contribution.

I had hoped that someday Julie would come and teach for me. We had spent time discussing her PhD progress and her professional goals.

It was a privilege to know Julie and to be challenged by her thinking. The last thing any leader needs is to have someone who always agrees with you. Julie was relentless in challenging the status quo. In this approach she angered some, but in the long run was able to advance necessary change. Everyone needs a Julie in their life.

Forever loved... always a spe…
Forever loved... always a special place in my heart for Julie. So many hours and coffees shared together here between friends! Thinking of you all and hoping you find comfort and strength from the stories, the memories and the love and laughter she shared throughout her life.
Please accept our condolescences on the Loss of your mother. Someone so young, so established, so smart and helpful....has a special place in Heaven. If you have any information on Leslie Hargett, please write me privately. My Aunt Euny Bish was very close to Leslie and would like to know how she is. Again, so sorry. Denise
Julie, I heard the news of your passing earlier today and felt heartbroken. You will be sorely missed! At the start of my Nurse Residency, I recall thinking we were going to clash, because of how blunt you were. : ) However, I quickly learnt to appreciate and love that about you. Julie, I thank you for always lending an ear and being an advocate for us nurses. I will miss running into you when grabbing coffee, the smiles and hugs you always had for me, and your genuine concern for how I was doing. You were such a wonderful person to know, and I will be forever grateful to God for the opportunity to have met you. Sending you love and hoping to see you again someday.
Our family is truly saddened to lose Julie. Our lives started out together in Ann Arbor - our mothers very close and sharing work and personal connections. Julie and I were born six months apart. I'm passing along thoughts from my father as well who says... "Julie was the child of two dedicated and very gifted health care workers whom I have called the best of friends. Julie gave her all to the health and welfare of her students and her girls and helped them all in most creative and enduring ways. She will be missed greatly. May her spirit continue in the lives of all those who knew her. Ollie Moles"
So sorry to hear of Julie's passing ... she left this world way too early but touched so many lives while she was here! Julie was an inspiration for so many young people through the years and will be fondly remembered. Thoughts and prayers to her family. RIP Julie. 💔

Julie, I cannot put into words how much I will miss you. I think of your great heart and how much and how passionately you loved, all the lives you touched and how fearless you were. I will forever tell my babies about you and how you graciously gave me your strength during the most difficult time in my life. I will be forever grateful for you Julie. Thank you for your love and friendship. Your Tiger family. We love you.

Kate, Megan and Tom you all will be in my prayers. God be with you.
I am so sorry for your loss, Julie was amazing and the the biggest reason I am in the nursing field. She was an amazing teacher and I will never forget.
I am so terribly sorry to hear such sad news. I cannot imagine how difficult this is for you and your family. I have fond memories working with Julie when she was at Northwest Oakland Vocational Center in Clarkston and teaching CPR for her medical assisting students. Please accept my prayers for all of you.
