Jill's obituary
Wife, mother, sister, and Nana, Julia “Jill” Elizabeth Thompson passed away in her home surrounded by family on September 17, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63. Words cannot fully express the lasting impact that Jill had during her time on Earth.
Jill was born November 13, 1959 in Platteville, WI to George and Audrey Bullis, the youngest of four daughters. She graduated from Platteville High School where she played volleyball and basketball, played in the marching band, and graduated as salutatorian. She went on to earn a degree in Physical Therapy at University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, graduating with honors. She moved to San Francisco in 1984 to pursue her career, where she also met her lifelong love and husband, Dan, in 1985. They had three daughters and moved to Boise, ID in 1993 to raise their family. Jill started her own PT practice, which grew from a single PT to a business, PT 180. She dedicated much of her life to alleviating her patients’ pain and improving their quality of life and was rightfully proud of how much she had accomplished.
There was nothing Jill enjoyed more than being active in her community and with her family. When she wasn’t biking to work and treating patients, she was coaching her children’s sports, leading a girl scout troop, serving in ministry, volunteering, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She was a powerful presence and brightened every space she entered.
Jill was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother, physical therapist, leader, mentor, friend, colleague and humanitarian. While some can say they’ve found their calling in life, Jill lived for physical therapy, and loved helping others every day of her life. Her life was devoted to treating others, she excelled as a healer and served as a mentor to dozens of young and aspiring physical therapists. While she gave so much of her time and talents, she only wished she could continue to do more. Her final gift was donating her body to science to help others with cancer research.
Jill is survived by her husband, Dan; daughters, Beth, Amy, and Leah and her husband Isaac Zohner and grandsons William, Connor, and Owen Zohner; sisters Jory Wilke, Janet Powell, and Jinny Moorehead, and a legacy of love. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Audrey Bullis. Outside of her immediate family, she has formed lifetime friendships that are also feeling the impact of her death.
A celebration of life will be held at Vineyard Boise Christian Fellowship on October 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM at 4950 N Bradley St, Garden City, ID. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ada County Crop Walk under the Hyde Park Mennonite Team, American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, or Mennonite Central Committee.
