Julia's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Julia Padilla. She was a fiercely loving daughter, sister, and friend.
Julia Padilla, born to Robert and Mary in Aurora, Illinois, was a bright spark from the very beginning. She was an incredible sister to her younger siblings, Justin and Mara. As an avid musician, Julia discovered her passion for piano at a very young age. She excelled at lessons and went on to study music at Elmhurst University. She participated in the choir and jazz programs at EU, working toward a degree in Music Education. Julia also dabbled in other pursuits, including composing, arranging, writing, art, and drama. She would frequently surprise friends and family with hand-made gifts based on inside jokes and fond memories. Anyone who knew Julia knew the type of soul she had and knows how difficult this loss is for our family.
In lieu of a traditional funeral service, our family is hosting a celebration of life party hosted by Elmhurst University. Please arrive ready to party and remember our dearest Julia on Friday, November 11th from 4:30 - 7:30 PM. Services will be held at the Frick Center Founder's Lounge on campus. We would love for you to RSVP to get a better idea of attendance. We look forward to having you join us to celebrate Julia's life.
For although the storm is temporary sadness that drags the flower’s leaves down, it stimulates a growth in all the living things. From the chilling shower of the storm, I open up and welcome a possibility for personal flourishing.
- Julia Padilla, from her poem Rainbows Come Next
