Jules's obituary
Jules Lombardo Alvarez, 80, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2020. Born on September 29, 1939, in Jacksonville, Florida, Jules was a devoted family man, accomplished civil engineer, and respected homebuilder.
He is survived by his daughters, Julie Camputaro (Phillip) and Laura Quinones (Mark); his son, David Young (Tricia); grandchildren Ryan Hayman, Hunter Hayman, Hannah Ross, Zoe Elliott, and Mia Elliott; his brother, Patrick Alvarez (Holly).
Jules attended the University of Florida on a full track scholarship and graduated first in his class with a degree in Civil Engineering. A passionate Gator fan, he was well known for driving his beloved “Gator mobile” around town.
As the owner of Olde Colony Homes, Jules built a legacy of excellence in the homebuilding industry, receiving numerous awards and distinctions. He served as President of the Home Builders Association of Virginia (HBAV) in 1991 and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1996. He was twice named HBAV Builder of the Year and held the title of Life Director. His leadership also extended to the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association (FABA), where he served as President (1985–1986), was named Builder of the Year (1989), and received multiple President’s Awards. He was honored with the James L. Carver Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 and was inducted into the FABA Hall of Fame in 1998. In recognition of his impact, FABA established the Jules L. Elliott Legislative Award in 2004.
Jules also served as a National Director on the NAHB Leadership Council from 1985 to 1993. Outside of his professional achievements, he loved traveling the world and playing golf with friends at the Flagler County Club.
Known for his generosity and compassion, Jules frequently gave to those in financial need, always extending a helping hand with humility and grace. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
