Judy's obituary

Judy Elaine (Gibson) Wilson, 65, of Osawatomie, Kansas passed away at home on Monday, July 1, 2019. She will forever be remembered as a devoted mother, loving grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met.

Judy was born on November 1, 1953 in Liberal, Kansas to Jesse Elden Gibson and Anna Marie (Holding) Gibson. She attended and graduated from Osawatomie High School. Judy was a dedicated employee who valued a simple life. Judy began her career as a nurse’s aid for the Osawatomie State Hospital. She worked there several years and built great relationships with her co-workers. Judy then spent over 20 years as an Operations Associate for the J.C. Penny Distribution Center in Lenexa, Kansas. Before she retired she was also an employee of Embarq, a telecommunications service, and then returned back to J.C. Penny’s.

Judy was a fun loving woman who’s greatest joy were her friends and family. She would spend hours on the phone chatting and having a beer. Judy was also an avid bowler competing for over ten years in bowling leagues and weekend tournaments. One of Judy’s greatest accomplishments was winning 1st place with her team in a State tournament.

Judy also liked to gamble occasionally and spoke about how she loved the atmosphere of the casino, her favorite game being the slot machines. Judy loved to play games in general whether it was cards, board games, or video games. She could be lost in a book for hours and took delight in observing the simplicities of nature. One of Judy’s favorite places to visit was the lake making comments about the beauty of water. She also very much loved animals, especially cats. Tilly, Oreo and Bricky were a few of her favorites.

Judy was also a devoted fan of the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball and rarely missed watching a game. She loved spending time with her son Brian and family, but nothing gave her more pleasure in life than the time she spent with her grandchildren, Shaylan, Brandon, Koen and Joss. She will be sadly missed.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Anna Gibson and her sister Susan Lynn Gibson. Survivors include her loving son, Brian Charles Gibson and wife, Eryn. Left behind to cherish her memory are her four grandchildren, Shaylan Elaine Gibson, Brandon Charles Gibson, Koen Gregory Gibson and Joss Edward Gibson. She is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Ann Green and her husband Bob of Edgerton, Kansas and Nancy Gibson of Olathe, Kansas. Judy also leaves behind several relatives of Texas and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, July 26th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. The visitation will be held from 6:00 - 7:00pm and Memorial Service from 7:00 p.m. - 8: 00 p.m. In honor of Judy’s life, sports team attire or colors of the Chiefs, Royals, and KU is encouraged. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made directly to the family or online via paypal: brian34gibson@gmail.com. All donated funds will be used to aid her grandchildren, who she loved dearly, with educational endeavors.
