Judy's obituary
Judy was born on November 3, 1942 to Leonard and Willa Jost in Dallas, TX. Judy and her family moved to DeSoto, TX in 1947 when she was 5 years old. And, she passed away on March, 17, 2023.
Granny, as she was more affectionately known, was married to Jerry Gallagher for 63 years. She was his best friend, business partner, travel companion and best buddy for 65 years!
Granny, along with Granddaddy, in 1968, started Gallagher Construction. She was the brains and organizer of everything, and Granddaddy was the braun.
In 2007, she retired to be a full-time Granny to the lights of her life, five wonderful grandchildren: Jessie Anne Gallagher, Kasey Lynn Ellrich, Rhett Austin Gallagher, Mollie Kate Gallagher and Claire Abigail Gallagher.
Her grandchildren were her world. She attended their sporting events, watched them cheer, loved on their dogs, went bowling with them at midnight, took them on shopping excursions, taught them excellent manners, educated them in the finer things of life like weekly manicures and pedicures, chocolate and traveling - and the list could go on and on! Most of all, Granny was a best friend to each one of them and their biggest supporter in everything they did!
Granddaddy was also her world! Jerry Von “aka” Granddaddy was the apple of Granny’s eye and her “boyfriend” since 1956. They were inseparable and totally devoted to each other in each and every way.
Judy touched many lives throughout the DFW Metroplex and beyond by her caring and giving spirit and by her example.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Willa and Leonard Jost, and her in-laws, Selma and Jess Gallagher. Also, preceding her was her sister, Linda Sanders, and her cousin and good friend, Susan MacLeod.
Judy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jerry Gallagher. She is also survived by her daughter, Lisa Gallagher, and partner, Jim Shives, and son, Von Gallagher, and wife, Carrie Gallagher. She is survived by her grandchildren: Jessie Gallagher, Kasey Ellrich, Rhett Gallagher, Mollie Gallagher, Claire Gallagher and Payton Baucom. Also surviving are sister, Janet Thach, and brother, Gary Jost. Special members of the family are August Reynolds and Tyler Obenshain.
