Judy's obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Judy Daniel, 63, announce her passing on February 24, 2022, in Atlanta, GA.
Judy was born on October 20, 1958 to Jean and Stephen Daniel in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. Judy was beautiful, intelligent, friendly and highly esteemed by everyone around her. She was relentless in her pursuit of academic excellence and her unique combination of natural charm, determination and zeal for equity and justice led her to the study of law.
Judy earned her law degree from the University of the West Indies, her LLM from Tufts University in Boston, specializing in Environmental Law, and recently completed her Masters in Conflict Resolution. Judy had a robust passion for protecting the environment especially for small islands in the Caribbean. She functioned as a pioneer in the field, serving on various boards, institutions, committees throughout the region and internationally. She dedicated over 30 years of work toward environmental regulations, wastewater management and consulting expertise for several countries and prominent organizations such as the United Nations and FIFA.
As an especially charismatic, and fiercely loving woman, Judy achieved success in her personal relationships. To her family, she was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. Her sense of humor and ability to put things in perspective resonate with her family. Judy regularly put the needs of others before her own, by ensuring her family was cared for while helping her children accomplish their dreams. Judy was a devout Catholic dedicated to her faith. She stressed the importance of always trusting God in all his decisions- even in the small things. Judy believed in miracles and the power of prayer and community. Even in her battle with cancer, she put her faith in God and assured others that it was all under control.
Judy loved spending time with her family, baking, cooking, dancing, road trips, listening to steelpan, and just enjoying life in everything. Judy will lovingly be remembered by her children; Danielle Nadia Paul and David Gordon Paul; and her granddaughter, Kalia Austin Paul. She is survived by her mother; Jean Daniel, her brothers Stephen “Stevie” Daniel and Shawn Daniel, and her sister; Jennylyn Branker.
In remembrance of Judy Daniel, the family is hosting a memorial service on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Marriott Ballroom, located in Atlanta, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to the Judy Daniel Scholarship for law students attending her alma mater, The University of The West Indies.
