Judy's obituary

We had to say goodbye to a warm, loving, and tremendously energetic Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend this past week as Judy Johnson, 79, of Denison, IA, died early Sunday morning August, 27th at the Eventide Senior Living Facility in Denison, IA after a long battle with Dementia. A memorial service will not be until October in Denison, IA. For more details regarding the service, contact family members. Judy Ann (Schroeder) Johnson, daughter of Vernon P. and Esther (Julien) Schroeder and Walter and Dorothy Johnson, was born on May 20th, 1944 in Gothenburg, NE. She was educated at Ralston High School in Ralston, NE. She was wed to Ralph Looney in Omaha, NE, where they settled for a short time and had 3 children before moving on and going their separate ways. In December of 1976, Judy married Dennis Johnson and for the next 46 years they blended their two families to make a real life brady bunch with 6 children between the two of them. They lived in Nebraska, Arkansas, Colorado, and Minnesota until 1996 when they retired to Branson, MO. Traveling, Camping, Cruising (for close to 20 years) Raising Dogs (mostly from rescue shelters), Antiquing, and numerous trips and activities with family members, grandkids, children, and friends that included a stop through Texas, they landed again in Minnesota. Judy was a beautician by trade, even owning her own place called Judy’s Hair Den in Alvo, NE. She cut hair in some capacity for nearly 50 years. Judy’s love for animals was evident as she had many dogs and cats as pets in her lifetime. She also had a heart for the underdog as she worked with men with special needs at REM Home in Redwood Falls. Dabbling with buying and selling antiques at Grandma’s Attic at the local furniture store, camping in her RV, playing with her dogs, and spending time with Grandkids were things that she always treasured. Judy is survived by her husband Dennis, her Daughters, Cathi (Doug) of Ralston, NE, Debbi (Troy) of Sacred Heart, MN, Tiffany of Minneapolis, MN, Noelle of  Port O’Connor, TX, and Son’s, Scott (Ashley) of Elkhorn, NE and Todd (Sandy) of Stewartville, MN; 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild; Sister Jane (Wes) of Hot Springs, AR; Half-Siblings Larry Johnson and Elaine of Nebraska, and Bill Johnson of California and a number of other cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her adoptive parents, her Brother, Ron Schroeder, and her Sister Beth(Ken) Reynolds, and great grandson Mason Daak.
