Judy, Diane and I taught at Honey Hollow School in Hauppauge. In 1969 I was a newbie teaching first grade. Judy was the creative one, not only in school, but in life. Her talents included wisdom, painting, sewing, quilting, jewelry making, furniture building and decorating, creative writing and on and on!
Judy had a wonderful sense of humor . She loved traveling and did so. What fun we had with our teacher pals getting post grad credits with American Field Studies visiting historic venues in the Northeast.
A special pleasure was seeing The American Ballet Theatre at Lincoln Center every Spring with our Honey Hollow friends.
My life has been enriched by sharing it with Judy. I will miss her dearly.

I am so very sorry for your loss and for the loss of our friend. We spent many holidays and New Years together over the past 20 years. I have much of Judy's amazing art around my house, obtained in a myriad of ways! Her pieces give me SUCH pleasure, as it does my children who have already asked if I could spare one when they finally get settled in their own home.....we'll see :). We love you Judy, and we wish your beautiful family peace and cheer as they move further into their journey.

Judy was my mother's friend at Alfred University, over 60 years ago, and they maintained a deep friendship and love until my mom's death in 2017. It gave me comfort to speak with Judy after my mom died, as I know she is one of the other people who missed her so deeply. Judy felt like a part of my family. My wife Gail and I shared many Rosh Hashanah dinners and Passover seders with Judy at our home in Setauket, where Judy also lived. Judy often brought her homemade plum tart to contribute to dinner. We also had numerous Thanksgivings with Judy at my mom's house. I can picture Judy and my mom sitting and playing Scrabble for hours in my mom's living room. They were also weekly mahjong buddies, and met for lunch with a group of college friends monthly for years. The group, which had up to 8 at one time is now sadly down to 2 or 3. They kindly welcomed me to their lunches when I could attend. Judy's art adorns many rooms in my house right now (I just counted 4 rooms!), and in my sister Roberta's house in Geneseo. My brother used to take the family to Atlantic City for a weekend every year, and I recall Judy accompanying us, as she was a big fan of gambling. We would be getting up in the morning, and Judy would just be coming back to the hotel room after a night at the craps table. Judy was always very concerned about her daughters and grandchildren. She spoke of them frequently, and with much love and pride. Judy really was a part of my family also, and we all really loved her. I will miss her laughter, her frankness, and her creativity. I will miss you, Judy!!

My condolences to Judy’s extended family! She was my across the street neighbor for 22 years, and although we didn’t see each other often, we enjoyed catching up whenever we’d spot each other. We even ran into each other in Guatemala. I was lucky enough to buy some of her artwork and furniture years ago, and I will cherish them all. She was talented and friendly, and laughed easily. I know she will be missed by many!

Our friendship with Mrs. Saccucci began as neighbors 58 years ago on Eagle Lane in Hauppauge. My mom, Joan Ryan and Judy became fast friends & confidantes, bonding over the brood between them. They shared each other's joys and tribulations and emerged stronger and more independent. Mrs. Saccucci shared precious moments and events with all the Ryans. Her dear daughters, Joanna & Maria became lifelong buddies with my little sister Laurette, and whom I love dearly too. Laurette had many a meal with the Saccuccis whose palates were more sophisticated than the Ryans. Laurette came home one evening very excited after a dinner at the Saccucci's that included 'rabbit' and exclaimed, 'Mom, those Saccuccis eat everything!' Mrs. Saccucci was a wonderful storyteller and shared her travel adventures, encouraging us to explore other cultures, food, art and music. We haven't stopped. She loved gambling and we eagerly swapped stock picks, commiserating over the dogs and missed opportunities but reveling in the winners. Her thoughtful, intelligent perspectives on life made you think and often swayed your opinions. Her talent was immense. We admired her colorful collages, jewelry, poetry and paintings. I have a treasured painting she gifted me entitled 'Jean Ryan and her Mother'. Will attach it here for all to enjoy. Most of all we'll miss her throaty chuckles and giggles while we shared a chocolate brownie together as she sipped her 'smooth move' cup of tea. We will love her always.
