Judith's obituary

Judith Pironio passed away suddenly at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida on June 20, 2020 three days after her 87th birthday. Born in Providence, RI to Fred and Elizabeth (Mills) Clarke, Judy grew up in Cranston, RI and graduated from Cranston High School with her best friend Annie (Crocker) Mackie. Annie and Judy attended their last high school reunion together a few years ago staying lifelong friends. After high school Judy married Harold Pierson, Jr. and joined him on the west coast where he was stationed in the Air Force. While out west, Judy gave birth to her firstborn, Cheryl. A year later Harold, 3rd, was born and sadly passed away days before his 41st birthday in 1994. After the Air Force the couple and their children settled in Foster, RI on a small farm raising chickens and selling eggs. Here their third child Susan was born. During this time Judy found she had many creative talents she put to work sewing, knitting, canning, braiding rugs, oil and watercolor painting. Judy helped out Hal as he worked delivering milk and attending college by working at Highland Orchards Restaurant. Once Hal graduated and started a new job, the family moved to Greenville, RI. After a few years, Judy found herself single again and decided to go to nursing school, graduating as an LPN and began working for the State of RI at the Medical Center then at Zambarano Hospital. Judy met Bruno Pironio and began a new adventure in life. She left nursing to work in the office at BMCO, Bruno's conveyor manufacturing company in Cranston. They both enjoyed their membership in the RI Yacht Club, sailing and later motor boating. Judy and Bruno loved to travel, enjoying trips to his home in Italy. They traveled in Europe, Central America, South America and the United States. While at home in Rhode Island, Judy also loved her trips to the casinos, garden tours, and shopping. Her creative talents continued in stained glass, jewelry beading, and scrapbooking. As Judy and Bruno's retirement began, they spent their winters in southwest Florida eventually moving there full time. In Florida, they loved to gather with friends for Happy Hour at each other's homes. Judy played Mahjong with different groups for many years. Judy was also an avid reader of murder mysteries. Sadly, in June of 2015, Bruno passed away from complications of Parkinson's Disease. After living with her daughter Susan for a few years, Judy went to stay at an assisted living memory care facility.

Surviving Judy are her daughters Cheryl and Susan, grandchildren Sarah and Jason, and great-grandchildren Alexis, John, Emma, and Leah.
