Our beloved parents, Judith Ann and Walter Wayne Chmielenski, passed away after 57 years of marriage in Wilmington, NC and Gulfport, MS respectively.  Judith, 78, passed away on April 30, 2025 and Walter, 82, followed her in death only 6 weeks later on June 11, 2025. They were both struggling with illness for some time, but lived full and happy lives. 

Judith was born on December 3, 1946 in Syracuse, NY to Agnes and Salvatore Farone. She enjoyed knitting and quilting among other crafts, volunteering at church, book club and playing cards with friends.  Most of all Judy loved being a grandmother to her four grandchildren. 

Walter was born on September 5, 1942 in Bridgeport, CT to Estelle and Walter A. Chmielenski. He enjoyed playing golf as often as possible, socializing with friends and watching his favorite team, the New York Yankees. He too loved spending time with all his grandchildren.

Married on November 11, 1967, Judy and Walt raised their family in Manchester and Vernon, CT while working for Aetna Insurance Company; Judith for 20 years, and Walter for the entirety of his career, over 30 years.  Walter graduated from Quinnipiac University and served in the United States Air Force. Following their retirement from Aetna in 2002, they relocated to Leland, NC and enjoyed over 20 years there serving the community, traveling with friends and visiting their children and four grandchildren.  

They are survived by daughter Laura and her husband, Russell Desrocher of Chester Springs, PA and son Christopher and his wife, Kerry Chmielenski of Gulfport, MS.  They have four grandchildren, Jarred and Darian Desrocher and Kaelyn and Ryan Chmielenski. 

A funeral mass for both Judy and Walt will take place on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 9 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC.   Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
