Judi's obituary
Millersville, Maryland -- Judith “Judi” Ann (née Holmes) Lohn, 67, passed away on August 1, 2024 at Hospice of the Chesapeake following a year-long battle with cancer.
A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Judi was a graduate of Archbishop Spalding High School and received her Bachelor of Arts from the College of Notre Dame, where she made many lifelong friendships. Judi was an avid and accomplished photographer, quilter, and “renowned” baker. She was quick with a smile, loved a good laugh, and was happiest when her home was filled with family and friends.
Judi started her professional career as a cashier at Hechinger Co., working her way up over the years to become Store Manager. After working for the American Cancer Society, she started a 23-year career in public service, first working for Anne Arundel County and then the State of Maryland. Judi was a proud member of the Human Resource team at the Community College of Baltimore County where she ended her tenure after 11 years as the Director of Benefits.
Outside of her professional career, Judi was a well known leader in her community. She grew up sailing on the Severn River, which resulted in a lifetime commitment to conserving the land and water of the estuary and surrounding areas. A long time member of the Indian Landing Boat Club (ILBC), Judi served on the ILBC Board of Governors. Additionally, she served on the Board of Directors for Severn Crossroads Foundations and held a critical role in the revitalization of the Historic Baldwin Hall.
Judi is survived by her children, Frederick Lohn and his spouse Laura Lee Wight; Emilie Lohn and her partner Oliver Phoebe; their father, Fred Lohn; her sister Barbara Norman and her spouse Dave Clayton, her brother Scott Norman and his spouse Brenda Norman; her step-mother Kathie Holmes Scott, and her aunt Dee Yeend. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur C. Holmes Jr. and mother, Margaret “Peggy” Norman.
A private service celebrating her life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the oncology team at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins and the dedicated staff at Hospice of the Chesapeake for their care and support. Remembrance donations in honor of Judi's life can be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation
