Jude's obituary
In Loving Memory Of Jude Dismas Atencio
With deep sadness and profound love, we share the passing of Jude Dismas Atencio, 53, of Lakewood, Colorado, who went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2024, in Northglenn, Colorado. Born on November 10, 1970, in Maywood, California, Jude was the treasured son of Robert and Henrietta Atencio.
Jude’s life was defined by unwavering faith, unyielding perseverance, and boundless love for his family and community. He met his beloved wife in 1991, and they married in 1996, beginning a journey filled with love, laughter, and steadfast devotion. Their 28 years of marriage and 33 years together were marked by a love so deep they affectionately called each other “Figiro” and “Cleo.”
Jude is survived by his devoted wife; his cherished mother, Henrietta Atencio; and his loving siblings: Valerie Anaya (Doug), Robert Atencio, Tommy Atencio (Linda), and Charity Ohlrogge (Patrick). His legacy lives on in the many nieces and nephews who knew him as a source of strength, kindness, and wisdom. He joins his father, Robert Atencio, and sister, Tammy Atencio, in heaven.
Jude’s life was a testament to 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” This verse embodies the way he faced each day, no matter the trials he encountered. Throughout years of serious health challenges, Jude’s faith never wavered. He was a man who praised and worshiped daily, drawing strength from his relationship with God and spreading hope wherever he went. Whether in parking lots, stores, or during his time in rehabilitation, Jude never hesitated to pray for those in need and share the light of Christ.
Despite facing overwhelming obstacles, he achieved significant victories in his life, including relearning how to walk and successfully quitting smoking. These accomplishments stood as powerful symbols of his relentless determination and the grace of God that sustained him.
Jude’s influence reached beyond his personal struggles; he was an inspiration to all who knew him. His legacy is that of a faithful servant whose heart was filled with love, whose hands were ready to serve, and whose words brought comfort and encouragement.
A celebration of Jude’s life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024. A viewing will take place at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at New Hope Ministries, 875 S Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226. Family and friends are invited to gather for a reception at 2:00 p.m. at the Denver Revival Center, 7800 W Colfax Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214.
Jude’s memory will forever be treasured, and his life stands as a powerful reminder that true victory is found in unwavering faith and love. He has finished his race, and he now rests in eternal peace with the Father.
