During my first thanksgiving in America (and first thanksgiving ever!) Sister Juanita opened her home and her heart to me when I was a million miles away from home and from the familiar. That chilly November, I recall feeling a sense of belonging and safety I hadn't felt since arriving in the US. I dont recall a time when I was in Sister Juanita's presence and I didnt feel her maternal protectiveness or enjoy her warm (and sometimes sassy!) sense of humor.

Sister Juanita embodied love. Her generousity and the seeds of faithful devotion to Christ that she planted (and that flourished) in Shekinah inspired and encouraged me in my own walk with Christ during my formative months and years in America. 

Shekinah and Ron, I know there are no words that I can say to take the grief away but please be comforted by the fact that your mom's loving and compassionate spirit lives on in you. May God grant you the strength and peace to navigate this season. May the rich memories of her wonderful life comfort you.

Sister Juanita- you were always the “cool Mom” in my eyes!!! I deeply cherish memories of “adventures” with you and Shekinah in our teens and I appreciate you always including me and treating me like a second daughter. I hope to impart in my children the same faith, kindness and integrity you did with your own.  You always had a smile and prayer for everyone you met- I don’t think you ever met a stranger. We will miss you so but I’m thankful for the time God lent you to us because you were truly a blessing to us all and we will never forget you.  Rest in Paradise-Your Legacy will live on❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
