Juanita's obituary
((Juanita)) was born on ((August 16, 1948)) to [Jim Meeks and Ira Lou Smith] in the unincorporated community of [Blackhawk, Mississippi]. After ((Juanita)) graduated from [Vaiden high school] in [1965], ((she)) relocated to Oakland, Ca. where she was embraced by Robert and Luella Smith, affectionately known as Uncle Bill and Bae. After getting adjusted to her new environment, ((Juanita)) began her career with [The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company, now known as AT&T. ((Juanita)) was passionate about [Pac Bell] and loved what ((she)) did for a living.
In [1967], ((she)) met [Joseph I. Evans, Sr.] [Juanita and Joseph Sr. Joined in Marriage from 1970-1975]. Their union yielded [one child], [Joseph I. Evans, Jr].
((Juanita)) retired in [2005] after [a little over 34 years] in the field. While retired, ((Juanita)) had time to enjoy ((her significant other of 20 plus years, Richard Baugh )). She also loved watching [Tiger Woods and Serena Williams as they dominated in the areas of Golf and Tennis. In addition, she valued spending extra-curricular time with her Buddy Buddies...her sisters]. ((Juanita)) was predeceased by [both of her parents, sister, Linda Faye Meeks-Anderson and Sister-in-Law, Emma]. ((Juanita is survived by)) [her son, Joseph Evans, Jr; 7 Grandchildren Felicia Evans, Christopher Evans, Jasmine Evans, Sky Evans, Iyana Evans, Dawan Singleton and Daysha Singleton; 1 Great Grandchild, Nia Reese; "A daughter she never had, LaTarsha McCoy-Singleton; 11 siblings:.....a God Daughter, Alexis Vernon-Perry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins ]. Her Memorial Services are held at her church Home [Phillips Temple CME Church] on [June 3, 2022 at [11:00na.m.].
