How you can help

We're raising money to help support JD / John's family during this difficult time. He was a father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend to many and a man of service, a volunteer fireman.
Juan Silva ¨John¨ ¨JD¨ Delgado, 46, a cherished man known for his kind selflessness, passed away unexpectedly, peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Sept 13, 2024. John lived a life filled with generous service to others, a selfless devotion to duty and a passion for life. He is survived by his his wife of 24 years, Leticia Delgado, his son Garrett John (Morgan Pierce) Delgado, both of Wharton, Texas. His parents John J. and Priscilla Ann(Myers) Delgado of Wharton, Texas. His sisters Cynthia (Esmo Gonzalez ) Delgado of Pearland, Texas, Bernadette Brandi (Jose) Zavala of Pearland, Texas, and Amanda (Johnny) Bragg of Eastland, Texas. His mother in law Diana (Alex Becerra) Rodriguez of Boling, TX. He had one niece and several nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sidney Curtis and Betty Ann (Davis) Myers, Jesus and Seferina (Silva) Delgado and his father in law Angel Rodriguez.
His pride was being a father. He was so proud of that. He took pride in being a man of service, a fireman but would not ask for a thank you or ask for gratitude to be given even though it was well deserved. JD began his fire service 30 years ago. He supported his fellow fireman by giving his knowledge of fire service to all who would benefit and listen. He worked as a welder and loved his family. He still rode bulls with his son. He liked to fish and hunt. He began volunteering at the age of 16 with Kendleton Volunteer Fire Department. He rose through the ranks with Boling Fire Volunteer Department to achieve assistant fire chief. He most recently until his death, devoted his active service to Wharton Volunteer Fire Department. A third generation welder by trade, he supported his family doing what he learned from his father, uncles, aunt and both grandfathers. JD past away in his sleep, devastating his family, friends and fireman brothers and sisters. At the time of his death, we we did not know what happened for weeks. We now know complications from Type 1 Diabetes is what ultimately took his life. His departure leaves an unfulfilled void in their lives, yet they find comfort in the memories and everlasting love they shared.
Donations will be used to cover the last and final costs of his funeral, his headstone and once that is covered, only then, his family. We are incredibly grateful for everyone's love and support. Thank you all in advance for your generosity and your warmhearted kindness.
