Joyce's obituary

Joyce Brown Quarto was born in Havre Montana on May 21, 1928, but grew up on a farm in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. For years before her brother was born, she was her father’s constant companion in caring for animals and helping with outside farm chores. She later married and had three children: Terry, John, and Paula. In 1956 she moved to Tucson where she became a beautician, eventually owning her own salon. After moving to Tucson, she met and married the love of her life, Al Quarto, with whom she traveled to many countries over the course of their marriage. Traveling extensively was made much easier and less expensive after she became a travel agent. In 1972 she built a home on acreage south of Saguaro National Park East near her brother and parents. She gardened, swam in her pool, and landscaped the home she loved for the remainder of her life. Throughout the years, in spare time, she loved to sew for her home and family and was considered an expert seamstress. She lived life joyfully and to the fullest with vast amounts of energy which sometime awed those who knew her. She died in her beloved home on October 9, 2023 and is survived by her son John Papendick and brother David Brown.
