Ms. Joyce Hackett Minton passed away peacefully at her home on April 2, 2026, in League City, Texas, at the age of 92. Born on June 12, 1933, in Arvada, Colorado, Joyce was raised in Houston, Texas, by her parents Theodore R. Hackett and Myrtle Savage Hackett, who preceded her in death.
Joyce pursued a life of service and dedication to others through her career in nursing. She attended Southwestern Junior College before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washington Missionary College in Takoma Park, Maryland. Her passion for healthcare led to a distinguished career as a Registered Nurse that spanned over four decades. Joyce retired from the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, where she left an enduring legacy of compassionate care and professionalism.
Outside of her professional life, Joyce found joy and fulfillment in her many hobbies and interests. She was an avid crafter and quilter who delighted in creating beautiful works with her hands. Her love for gardening brought vibrancy to her home, and she shared a special bond with her cherished cats. Above all else, Joyce treasured her family deeply. She found immense happiness in spending time with her daughters Cheryl Lyn Heimbach of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and Cynthia Minton-Marshall of Galveston, Texas. Her grandchildren Jonathan Kaiser, Samuel Minton-Marshall, and Rachel Minton-Marshall held a special place in her heart and were a source of great pride and joy throughout her life.
A devout member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Joyce’s faith was central to her life. It provided her with strength and comfort during times of challenge and served as a guiding light throughout her journey.
Joyce is survived by her daughters Cheryl Lyn Heimbach and Cynthia Minton-Marshall; grandchildren Jonathan Kaiser, Samuel Minton-Marshall, and Rachel Minton-Marshall; as well as countless others whose lives she touched with kindness and grace. She was preceded in death by her grandson Nicholas Kaiser.
