Joyce McKissick Cunningham, 88, passed away October 16, 2019 at home in La Quinta, California. Joyce was the beloved wife of Thomas Cunningham, and adored mother of her daughter, Janine Finney, Scottsdale, Arizona, and two step-daughters, Cathy Maryhew and Ellen Glover from San Clemente, California.
Joyce was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee, where she lived until she moved to Oceanside, California in 1953. She started working for Bank of America as a bookkeeper and worked her way up to Operations Officer, managing several different B of A branches in Southern California. She made many dear friends during her banking career, and retired from B of A after 32 years of service. Joyce and Tom moved to the desert from Orange County, and Joyce began a new career as a Realtor at Century 21, in Indio.
One of her greatest joys was traveling. She and Tom traveled the world together. Her favorite place to revisit, was Hawaii, where she and Tom stayed many times. Joyce also enjoyed golfing, cooking, reading, and being with family.
Joyce was the cherished grandmother of Dana Eriksson and her husband Timothy, Lory Muirhead and her husband Marcus, Rocky Glover and Cathy Esponiza-Glover, Jennifer Maryhew, & Brian Maryhew. And, she was affectionately known as “Grandma Moo” to her 5 great-grandchildren, Parker, Hudson, & Lincoln Muirhead and River and Stone Eriksson, who now have a special angel watching over them.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her husband, family, and all who knew her. A Memorial Mass will be held on her 89th birthday, November 11, 2019, 10:00 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 43775 Deep Canyon Rd., Palm Desert, California.
