Joyce's obituary

Joyce Lee “Joy” Hernandez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and faithful follower of Christ, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 10, 2025, at the age of 59.

Joy was born on January 17, 1966, in Wichita, Kansas, to her loving parents, Shirley Ann Pollock and Kenneth James Pollock. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and is survived by her brother, James Kenneth Pollock, and her sisters, Deanna Marie Pollock Wiseman and Patricia Ann Schultz.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Noe Hernandez; her son, Nick Hernandez; her daughters, Jessica Echemenda and Breanna Howard; and her adored grandsons, Peter Hernandez, Paysen Hernandez, and Kristian Howard III.

Joy was the best mother her children could have ever imagined — selfless, nurturing, and endlessly supportive. She gave of herself daily, always putting her family’s needs before her own. She was a wife who not only respected her husband but also challenged him in all the right ways, helping him grow through her strength, honesty, and love.

Fiery, talkative, and full of life, Joy could make a room brighter just by walking into it. Her laughter was contagious, her faith unshakable, and her heart enormous. Those blessed enough to know her will forever carry her warmth, humor, and wisdom in their hearts.

Her faith in Jesus Christ guided her every step. She was a woman of prayer, wisdom, and grace whose light reflected the heart of God. Even in life’s challenges, her joy never faded.

Though her earthly journey has ended, her spirit remains deeply alive in the lives she shaped, the love she gave, and the faith she lived so boldly. Her family rejoices in knowing that she is now fully healed, restored, and at peace in the presence of her Savior.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” – Revelation 21:4
