Joyce's obituary

Joyce Ann Graham, nee Luton, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 14, 2020, at home in the loving care of her family. Joyce, or "J.G." as she loved to be called, was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on May 20, 1940 to Lillian and Samuel Luton. She was the youngest of three children with her brother William, "Bill" and sister Marilyn (Deatherage). Much of J.G.'s early childhood was happily spent on her family's farm in the beautiful rural town of Eminence Missouri. After the early passing of her dear father Samuel, J.G. and her family moved to Kirkwood, Missouri where her mother remarried a good man by the name of Fred Grossheider. She attended Concordia Lutheran Church there and graduated from Kirkwood High School, class of 1958.
After graduation Joyce married John Howell in 1959 and bore three children, April Lynn, Richard Allen and Mark Brien.
That marriage dissolved and Joyce remarried a second time. A beautiful baby girl, Tammy Renee, was born to the union but was taken too early after a tragic accident. The loss of Tammy was devastating and was the greatest sorrow of J.G.'s life.
J.G. divorced a second time and as a single mother worked extremely hard to provide for her family. By attending a state sponsored school she was able to get a better paying job as a nurse's aid and then was able to buy a small home to continue raising her family in. After a few years however, J.G. moved back to Missouri to help care for her aging mother and stepfather. J.G. was a hard worker for her patients and continued her nurse's aid career until her retirement. In her post retirement life she split her time living with her son Richard and her daughter April. She truly was the backbone of the family and we will forever love her.
