Joyce's obituary
Joyce Collett
(3/23/1945-6/22/2025)
Joyce was born in Bell County, Kentucky. She was raised in Lexington by a hardworking father, Elisha Collett, and a devoted mother and homemaker, Lina Green (Collett).
She raised a family in Louisville, Kentucky and was the mother of four children.
Joyce lived the latter half of her life in Florida, moving from Kissimmee to settle in Saint Petersburg, where she became affectionately known as “Granny” to her grandchildren. Anyone fortunate enough to know Granny Joyce was blessed by her kind and nurturing nature. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her children and grandchildren and sharing stories over a cup of coffee and a sliver of cake.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca Bootes, Timothy Alexander, and William Alexander, her sister Alice Hurt (Collett), brothers-in-law Ron Hurt and Tom Fossett, her grandchildren Felicia Bootes, Jeremy Bootes, Leah Alexander, Meagan Alexander, Caitlin Alexander, Brianna Alexander, and her great-grandson Timothy Edwards.
She is preceded in death by her son Samuel Alexander Jr. and her sister Barbara Fossett (Collett).
