Joshua's obituary
Josh came into this world January of 1979, born into a blended “Brady Bunch” style family. His father, Jim, had son Jamie and daughter Angie, while his mother, Shirley, had son Mark and daughter Susie. Josh was the glue that brought two separate lives together and created a new family and a love between his parents that lasted a lifetime. Josh was the baby of the family and his older siblings doted over him during his youth and mentored him throughout his life. Joshua was a prolific and gifted athlete throughout his school years. He attended Episcopal High School on an athletic scholarship in Alexandria, VA. He lettered in football, baseball, and wrestling, earned the Virginia state championship title during his senior year, and graduated in 1997. Once out of high school he attended James Madison University with a division one wrestling scholarship. He left JMU for a time between pursuing his degree gathering life experiences, friendships, and a direction for his future; returning a second time as a more matured and oriented adult, dedicated to his education and life goals! He graduated in 2010 having earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history. Witnessing his devotion and success was inspirational and his family cheerfully applauded, hooted, and hollered on his graduation day, which became a bright and joyful memory!
At the time of his passing Josh was employed with Southeastern Land Company as an Assistant Project Manager, his closest colleagues will miss their daily collaborations and conversations with him. The Josher enjoyed many hobbies and outdoor activities in his life. He spent many years riding motorcycles with his family and friends. He learned to boat with his dad and made many unforgettable memories with his family “frogging” in Lake Anna. He cherished his dogs Teddy and Violet and cycled between rough play sessions and couch-time cuddles.
As an athlete and the youngest member of the family, Josh had many role models and aspired to be one himself. As a young man he wrote “I want to be a person that others can look up to...I had a lot of people to look up to, I want to give that to someone. Give back what I was given!”. Without a doubt to anyone who knew him, he did exactly that. Josh became an uncle when he was just a boy, a role that he took to heart at such a young age, he was a leader to his peers, a coach to many athletes, and when his greatest dream came true, a father. Josh welcomed his son, Trevor, into the world with Shannon Murray in August of 2015, the greatest day of his life. Trevor will always be Josh’s most superior achievement and lifelong dream come true. Josh was a devoted, energetic, passionate, fun, and loving father to Trevor. They shared a love of Marvel and DC Comic, among other heroes and villains, often portrayed by Trevor’s many fantastic costumes! Josh was beloved coach to Trevor’s T-ball team, proud side liner and probably loudest cheerleader to his flag football and basketball seasons, and his best biking buddy. In a straw-hat, Josh would lead a small bike parade of Trevor’s friends around the neighborhood, his radiating smile and voluminous laugh undoubtedly infecting the moods of everyone they passed. Trevor has proven himself to be quite the academic, to which Josh was elated and proud. Sundays were enjoyed together with ice cream, a traditional comfort in the family. In Josh’s myriad of roles, he enticed confidence, bolstered and directed talents, broke down barriers with humor, and stood firmly at your back. He was loyal and protective. His hearty personality, booming voice, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all, but his loved ones can find inspiration and comfort in his tenacious qualities and thirst for life, carrying that with them throughout their own.
Josh is survived by his son, Trevor Webster; father, Jim Webster; siblings, Mark Heimbigner (husband Bill Ames), Susie Perkins (husband Guy Littleton), and Jamie Webster (wife Nancy Meyer); co-parent, Shannon Murray; nephews and niece, Ethan Perkins, Carrie Perkins, Tyler Webster, and Tanner Webster; lifelong best friend, Seth Kenney; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and so many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Webster; grand-parents, James and Doris, and Wilbur and Carrie; sister, Angie Webster; and uncles and aunts, Jerry, Silvio “Cap”, Vivian, and Bonnie.
*A formal memorial service is scheduled in VA for Saturday, September 16th at 11AM Episcopal High School in the Patrick Henry Callaway Chapel. Address: 1200 N Quaker Ln, Alexandria, VA 22302.
