Joshua's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joshua Pate, who left us on November 15, 2025. Born on March 18, 1982, Joshua was a man whose magnetic personality impacted every life he touched. He knew how to spin a story and tell a joke, to put it mildly. He would undoubtedly do a better job at this than us, while simultaneously making everyone laugh.

He is survived by his significant other; Miranda Pate, his mother; Sue McCammon, his father; Robert McCammon,  his daughters; Jordyn, Harlie, and Karter, his sister; Jessica Pate; his sister and brother-in-law Carly and Matthew Muir, his brother Marcus Vandeerve, his aunts; Lisa Reynolds & Sandy Stevenson; his aunt and uncle Jennifer and Robert Musinsky; his uncle and aunt Jeffrey and Alice Reynolds.

Josh was blessed to have three beautiful daughters in his life, Jordyn, Harlie, and Karter. Our hearts break for you three. His daughters were his entire pride, joy & the reason he evolved into such a good man. We hope you know how much he loved you. We all love you and hope you reach out to us if you ever need anything.

In his youth, he had an untamed spirit, but still, a profoundly kind & sensitive heart. At times he exhibited wild spontaneity. More recently, he had matured to be more peaceful and happy. He met a fantastic woman that we believe helped him on his healing journey. He was finally in a good place with a wonderful soul at his side. We think you became his peace. For that, we thank you, Miranda.

Josh had one of the biggest hearts I have ever encountered. He didn’t always know what to do with all that empathy, but he always tried.

Throughout the years, he always found his way back to family. As a son he tried to come home and complete much needed projects. He would lend an ear to listen, and solve what problems he could. He was mechanically gifted & helped fix things wherever he went. As a father he tried to be there to tease, laugh, and love you. Your dad was so fiercely proud of you all. You were his reason for everything. As a significant other to Miranda we saw the happiness you shared and wish you had had more time to enjoy that. His eyes always tracked you like they were starved for the sight of you. As a brother he tried to be there, and if times were tough we called Josh to lighten our spirits & make us laugh. As a nephew he would roll into town, have you laughing, and agreeing to host a party. If you were lucky, he’d help you clean up too.

In many different ways, but with a common denominator of bringing joy and laughter to us all, Josh had an impact on many people. It’s not possible to describe the void his passing has left with us all. We hope everyone finds a path to healing and back to laughter. Josh would want that for everyone.
