Joshua's obituary

Joshua Mayeux was born on October 7th 1982 in Elizabethtown, KY.

His love for cars, and his family was unparalleled. An avid racer, Josh often spent time racing with his buddies at various tracks across Texas. Improving his track time was one of his fondest accomplishments in life.

His friends would be quick to laugh about Josh’s impulsivity when it came to trading in his cars— he went through 11 cars from 2021 to 2024, so it was always a surprise as to which vehicle he would roll up in come track day.

Josh grew up with his mother Starlene and was deeply connected to his father, Kevin Smith, whom he talked with on a daily basis. Successful in his IT career with the US Government in San Antonio, Josh much preferred his time spent with his father in Florida and friends sipping on a few of his favorite beers (even if he was sipping on shit beers for far, far too long until he met Trevor).

Josh was deeply loved by his track day buddies, his parents, and his two closest friends, Trevor Wray and Luis Guzman, whom he could often be found working on cars with or grabbing a pint with on the weekend.

An avid animal lover, Josh’s greatest love in life was his schnauzer, Dexter, and his most recent rescue dog, Dug. He told his father that he wished to donate any proceeds from his belongings to a no-kill shelter should he die. This site was intended to collect donations for shelter he rescued Dug from, San Antonio Pets Alive! and to keep his spirit alive by sharing stories, memories, and having a place to celebrate his life.

Josh’s prickly demeanor and sarcastic wit often concealed the teddy bear he was inside. Although he passed away in his home on June 25, 2024, his spirit will forever live on in those who loved him most.

We miss you buddy, and you'll always be there, pointing out the one little flaw in the car we just purchased, that only you can see. We'll miss your gifs and that one judgmental eyebrow you would raise when we might have gone too far. You are loved and missed by more people than you know.
