I miss hearing Josh’s  infectious laugh.  He had such a wonderful sense of humor and made people around him happy!

Back around 2007, Josh and I were walking around PB one morning and somebody yelled at me "COURTNEY LOVE!!! YOU LOOK LIKE COURTNEY LOVE!" I was mortified but Josh thought it was funny.  I tried to forget about it.  Later that evening he said to me "I... Courtney LOVE you" and we both laughed like idiots.

Josh AKA our tour guide showing us around La Jolla. He loved to explore
My deepest condolences to Josh’s whole family. He was such a special soul. I’ve loved Josh ever since I met him when I was just a little girl. He had the best humor and the best laugh. I always considered him my uncle and have the best memories with him! Always lots of giggles when my silly Uncle Josh was around! He will be so missed but never forgotten. I can hear his laugh in my head. So thankful to have met him in my life. I pray he is at peace now.

Josh helped me paint a condo and I told him Lay it on thick and smooth it out with a light touch. Josh said Oh ya just like your BS! Ha ha you so funny! We both laughed our asses off 🤣KC
I met Josh when I was in my late 20s and he was in his early 30s.   He had a giant long bed Ford F150 that he called  "Arizona beige" but it looked gold me to.   Josh was hilarious, found humor in everything, he would latch on to a phrase or a joke and repeat it over and over and you couldn't help but laugh.  He made friends easily, we would frequently leave a place with new friends in tow, and he had so many friends.  Josh was good to people in his life, he was someone who would help you move, he was dependable and reliable.  He excelled at anything that enabled his creativity, like cooking, poetry, writing, drawing, singing, and playing music.   He made the best chicken wings I ever had, he was awesome at the BBQ, and so much fun to be around.  He could make a Cesar salad from scratch.   Josh would hear a story about a friend and repeat it in a song, always bringing the humor to a situation.  He wrote a song about Jeremy's girlfriend ripping off his rear view mirror, and another song about farting in your sleep.  I still hear his big laugh in my head all the time.  When we started dating the trend was velvet tracksuits that said "Juicy" and Josh loved saying "JUICY!" anytime he saw one, and everybody would laugh.   We used to drive around in his truck singing together, and he would tell me I was a great singer, but I am an awful singer.  And then he would burn out his tires at a light, creating a cloud of smoke, and we would laugh til our stomachs hurt.  Josh was an excellent carpenter, he could fix or build anything with his hands.   He used to take me fishing on the Jetty at 5 am with a pocket full of light beer.   He was a talented athlete, a surfer that caught every wave he wanted, and a skilled snowboarder.  He taught me to ski, bought me my first ski suit,  and he was patient and kind while I was embarrassing him on the slopes.   Like any relationship with passion, we fought frequently, I was insecure and I crowded him, and eventually we split up.   I was heartbroken for a long time, but we had started talking and become friends again after a while.  I always felt like I had a special bond with his happy spirit, and I am lucky for the time I had with him.   I am sure many people feel the same way.  Rest in peace Josh.  I will always love you, Denise

Thank you Josh for some of the best times in the 92109, Be our Angel, we still love and need ya!

I first met Josh sometime around 2008 while dating a friend of Reese’s at the time, and the four of us would occasionally get together over dinner, brunch, wine, that sort of thing. My first impression of Josh was that he was loud, incredibly obnoxious, and would sometimes say the most bizarre and random things completely off point to a particular conversation. In short, I couldn’t stand the guy—he was just like me!!

Years later Josh and I reconnected and became good friends. We had a good laugh over our once mutual disdain for one another, both of us recognizing the often times psychological effect of seeing ourselves mirrored in others.

Over the past three years or so we would speak a few times per week and get together whenever he was in town and it was always great fun. The conversations typically evolved around writing, psychology, sociology, fatherhood, surf, goofy fun stuff, and depression. Dealing with severe depression and anxiety for most of my own life, it was a topic we both connected on and continued to explore.

Josh had a much deeper mind than I think he chose to display most of the time, and I thought that was admirable and humble, and one of the many reasons why he is my brother.

I miss those conversations already and I miss you, my friend. I hope that you’re somewhere now scoring perfect waves & having good belly laughs with Tom!

ALOHA🩵
