Josephine's obituary

Josephine Lazarick Weigle of Shelton, CT passed away peacefully on June 8, 2022. Jo turned 102 on 2/22/22. She was born in Newark, NJ on February 22, 1920. She graduated from Hillside High School in 1937, received a degree in General Elementary education from the New Jersey State Teachers College at Newark (now Kean University) in 1941, and taught elementary school until she married Joseph Weigle in 1950.

Since 1992, Jo made her home in Shelton, CT in close proximity to her son Bill and his family. Jo made an art form out of being a homemaker. She loved to garden, and she made holidays and special occasions truly memorable with custom cakes and decorations. She was a talented seamstress, and often designed the clothes she made for herself and her children. She was never idle, but never too busy to stop what she was doing when someone needed her attention.

Jo is survived by her son Bill (Monroe, CT; Charlene Hron), and daughters Pat (Duesseldorf, Germany; Peter Hub) and Diane (Las Vegas, NV; Blake Emerson), grandchildren Emily, Caroline, and Charles, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Joseph, and her brothers Joseph (Andy), John, Mike, and Eddie.

The viewing will take place on Friday, June 17th at the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with a short service starting at 6:00 PM. The funeral will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ Saturday, June 18th, at 11:00 AM.
