Josephine's obituary
Josephine was born to Mary and William Walker on September 25th, 1930. She grew up on the South Side of Chicago and attended the 37th and Wells Street School later named Robert S. Abbott Elementary School and Wendell Phillips High School. She began her work life as a typist and eventually worked as a private nurse and caregiver for over 30 years.
Josephine was a woman of outstanding faith and was the happiest while spending time with God whether it be at Church or by herself. Her true calling was in service to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She received the right hand of fellowship as a youth at Progressive Baptist Church. She served dutifully as an Usher and sang in the choir every Sunday. She furthered her faith as a member at Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church. She worshiped at the Monument of Faith Church for twenty years. There, she served on the Nurses Board and as the Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School. In her latter years she attended the Apostolic Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Arthur M. Brazier. Her final church home was Apostolic Faith Church, led by Bishop Horace E. Smith, M.D.
Josephine was a lifetime learner and loved crossword puzzles, taking long walks, writing her prayers, and spending time with family. She was a kind and generous soul, always willing to lend a hand or ear. She put a smile on everyone’s face and will truly be missed!
