Joseph's obituary

Joseph Fitzpatrick Walsh of Plymouth Ma, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2024 at the young age of 39.

Joe had a voracious appetite for reading books of all sorts (hardcover or paperback only please!), and he was a sports fanatic, spectacular golfer, and a super fan of 80s and 90s movies (particularly the Rocky movies). An ultimate sports enthusiast since the day he arrived into this world on June 3rd 1984, Joe was blessed with a photographic memory for statistics, evidenced by the fact that there was almost no piece of sports trivia or historical fact or movie quote that he could not recite on command. During his short life, Joe traveled the country with his amazing friends and uncles to see numerous ball parks, wrestle manias, super bowls, final fours, horse races as nearly any sporting event interested him - however the Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox and Notre Dame football were, by far, his favorites. It brings some comfort to know that from now on, he'll be present at any and every game he desires to attend, cheering and hollering with the same fervor he always did.

Joe's unique charisma caught the attention of everyone he met because of his natural approachability and talent for being a great listener. He has an incredible set of friends willing to do nearly anything for him. Joe also had a magical sense of humor, the biggest heart, a wide smile, and loved his extended family of dozens of aunts, uncles and cousins more than anything in the world. Joe absolutely lived for his extended family events and he lit up every room he entered with that infectious smile. He looked forward to visiting his father Neil in Florida and sharing meals with his mother several times a week. We will all miss him more than words can convey.

He is survived by his loving parents Neil Walsh and Colleen Holmes, stepmother Ann Alves, siblings Neila and Courtney Walsh, grandmother Marguerite Mousseau, nieces Abbigale and Paige Murphy, along with a large extended family, a cadre of amazing friends and lastly his family pets Cooper and Maggie. Joe will be joining his recently deceased favorite Uncle Jeff and his stepfather Tim Holmes - Heaven get ready for the show! Lots of love and laughter are coming your way.

Visiting hours will be held at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, RI-114, Portsmouth, RI 02871 from 2:00pm - 5:00pm. Please come ready to share your favorite Joe Walsh stories and we want everyone to feel particularly welcome to wear your favorite Boston sports attire or Notre Dame gear to honor Joe's love for Boston sports. There will be a service of remembrances starting at 4:30pm in the funeral home. A celebration of life will immediately follow at Green Valley Country Club.

Joe's family requests donations to the Jimmy Fund to be made in lieu of flowers and thank everyone for their love and support.
