Joe, Joey's obituary
In Loving Memory of Joseph Loc Minh Tran “Joe/Joey”
April 13, 1982 – March 26, 2026
Joseph “Joe” Tran, 43, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 26, 2026. Born on April 13, 1982, Joe was raised in Hershey, PA, a town that shaped his early years and education.
A man of immense intellect and curiosity, Joe’s life was a bridge between the arts and sciences. He attended the Milton Hershey School before following his passion for music to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Later, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Science from SUNY Maritime College. Joe found great pride and fulfillment in his career as a data scientist in the medical field, where he applied his gifted mind to meaningful work.
Beyond his professional life, Joe was a prolific creator. He wrote, produced, and performed music, sharing his talent through the saxophone, keyboards, guitar, and his voice. His love for the world around him was evident in his devotion to dogs, his admiration for elephants, and his care for his plants. A true lover of science, he even wore the Fibonacci sequence as a permanent reminder on his wrist of the patterns and beauty in the universe.
Joe’s presence was as vibrant as his mind. He was known for his incredible generosity, his thoughtful gifts, and a spirit that could light up any room. Those who knew him will never forget his booming, amazing laugh—the kind that filled a space completely—and the signature snap of his fingers whenever something was truly funny. A die-hard Liverpool FC fan, he spent many match days cheering for his beloved Reds, loudly.

Joe was predeceased by his mother, Laurie Diaz, and his father, Loc Minh Tran. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Tran; his niece, Bianca; his nephew, Julian; and a community of friends and colleagues who were touched by his kindness and brilliance.
