Joe Spradley was one the nicest people to ever cross paths in my life. He was always quick with a smile and only ever had kind words to share with others. He was my brother Paul’s best friend growing up in Hornerstown New Jersey. They would hang out with a few other teens in the neighborhood by the town church community hall listening to albums (memories of mostly Jimmy Hendrix) on Joe’s portable record player. I thought it doesn’t get any cooler than that and then his brother Robert (I only knew as Speedy) equally as cool would show up on his go cart with a smile on his face. I’d try to blend in even though I was not a teen getting one of the 10 cent slim Jim’s that Joe passed out every once in a while (very generous back then in the late 60’s) and even get a ride on Speedy’s go cart. Such nice memories of these two brothers have stuck with me over the years always bringing a smile to my face.

I see from reading that Joe had a great circle of family and friends that surrounded him in his life. To you all I’d like to express my deepest condolences and hope that fond memories of him come shining through to give you some comfort in your time of mourning.
