Joseph's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph "Joe" Santello, a man of great character and heart, on July 4th, 2025. Born on April 18, 1937, Joseph dedicated his life to kindness, generosity, and patriotism, leaving an indelible mark on anyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
Joseph was affectionately known as 'Joe' by his friends and loved ones. His personality was a testament to his noble character; he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a loyal, long-time friend. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, never losing sight of what was truly important.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothea Santello, their children, Lisa Moss and Jeffery Santello, along with their respective spouses, Royal Moss and Dawn Santello. His legacy will continue to live on through his grandchildren, Joseph Gordon, Royal Moss, Riley Moss, Stephen Santello, and Catherine Santello and great grandson and his name sake Joseph Gordon.
Joseph was preceded in death by his son, Steven Santello, his mother, Grace Santello, father, Frank Santello, and mother-in-law, Sue Massa. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and their memories were kept alive through his stories and mannerisms.
Joseph was an active member of his community and volunteered at the Saint Vincent Depaul Society and Meals on Wheels, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to service and helping those less fortunate. He found joy in simple pleasures, like the melodies of Frank Sinatra, the thrill of Jeopardy, exploring the world through the Travel Channel, and relishing the memory of old movies. An ardent supporter of the New York Giants, he found camaraderie and joy in sports. He loved to engage his mind, with Trivial Pursuit being his favorite game.
A man of many talents, Joseph loved to swim and frequently hit the pool to stay fit and active. His unyielding spirit and love for life touched everyone around him. The void left by him is immense, but his memories and teachings will continue to inspire generations.
Joseph Santello wasn't just an ordinary man; he was a beacon of hope, love, resilience, and unwavering support. His life was a proclamation of selflessness and love. His legacy will forever be remembered through his actions, his words, and the love he left behind.
