Joseph's obituary
Joseph Valentino Platina Jr., 84, passed away Thursday October 14, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Capital Christian Center. Joseph was born December 31, 1936 in Jackson, CA. He was the first born son to Joseph Valentino Platina Sr. and Lucille Cassulo Platina. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1955. He attended Sacramento State University where he played football and ran track until he was drafted into the United States Armed Forces. He served most of his military service in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1966. Joseph married Gloria Ybarra Platina on October 4, 1969 and they lived in West Sacramento until his passing. He worked at Aerojet in Sacramento, CA for 42 years where he retired from on July 30, 1999.
Joseph Platina placed his faith in Jesus Christ. He is now in the presence of God Almighty for all eternity. He is proceeded in death by his parents and his grandchildren Angel, Amelia, and Austin Platina.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings Jeanie Cerrito and her husband Frank of Sacramento and Robert Platina and Claire Townsend. His children William Mendoza and his wife Sherri of West Sacramento; Linda Fernandez and her husband Fred of Elk Grove; Gino Platina and his wife Whitney of West Sacramento; and Thomas Platina and his wife Renee of Sacramento; his grandchildren Stacey Vanucci, Anthony Mendoza and his wife Amanda, Sarah Mendoza, Gloria Fernandez, Justin Fernandez, Isabelle Platina, Samuel Platina, Joseph Platina, Lia Kazaryan, and Rocky Platina; and his beloved great grand children Lindsey Vanucci, Logan Vanucci, Emery Mendoza, Ellis Mendoza, Eisley Mendoza, and Riyan Grey.
He had prolonged illnesses, but his passing was sudden. In lieu of flowers, any donation would be appreciated to help with funeral expenses.
