Joe's obituary
Joe Miller died Saturday, 4/29/23, after a brief illness. Known to many as “Jersey Joe”, he brought laughter and love to this world for 91 years. He will now take it to the heavens to join his parents/siblings and grandson Alex.
Joe was a proud Navy man, serving on a Destroyer for four years during the Korean War. He always joked he joined the Navy so his teachers would let him graduate. Not sure it was really a joke. Joe and Linn were married for 61+ years. They met in an elevator in Miami Beach when she was 16 years old (and had their ups and downs ever since). They married two years later, even after he discovered she lied about her age. By then, it was too late to call off the wedding. He was smitten.
The years were fun and exciting; sometimes, there was anger and sadness, but they were never dull. They lived in Illinois, AZ, and finally, FL, taking many trips in and out of the country. Joe loved playing golf, tanning at the pool, reading ferociously, taking care of plants, and playing the lottery. But most of all, he loved his family. They raised two children, Joseph Miller and Stacy Miller Shewey, and have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
It was a full life. Joe and Linn were lucky; they found their soulmates and were in love for 64 years. It doesn't get much better than that!
