Joseph's obituary
Joseph A. Marty, Jr., a man of calm demeanor, endless kindness and a unique sense of humor, departed peacefully at the age of 77, on November 15th 2024. Born on November 7, 1947 to former major league baseball player, Joseph Marty, Sr. and Eleanor Marty, in Sacramento, he lived a quiet, simple life. He was a homebody and kept to himself but once you got to know him and he got to know you, conversations can be endless. His unforgettable personality marked those who had the privilege to know him and will continue through the memories they shared.
Better known as Joe, he left his mark in three prominent fields. As a young man, he served in the US Airforce. He then held a fulfilling career as an Air Traffic Controller at San Francisco Airport, which fueled his passion for airplanes. He later transitioned to becoming a Travel Agent with American Express, where he met his partner in life, Teresita Camitan.
Joe is survived by his loving partner, Teresita. His love and wisdom will continue to be a guiding force for his daughter, MaryAnne Shih, his son-in-law Kai Shih, and his grandchildren, Kyler and Kalani Shih, who will greatly miss their beloved “Grampie.”
A funeral service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on November 23, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Cypress Lawn in Colma, CA. Following the service, a reception will be held at 2:00 PM. This will provide an opportunity for those who knew and loved Joe to come together, share memories, and provide support to each other during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, consider living out Joe's legacy: Lead a simple life, extend kindness to those around you and find ways to bring laughter to others. Although his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him. We will always remember Joseph Marty, Jr. for the extraordinary man he was, and he will be sorely missed.
